Hey everyone, hope you've had a wonderful holiday so far, and hope there's more to come for you!
If unfamiliar with winter conditions around Vic, a heads up that we do experience a fair bit of 'black ice'. A good example was Saturday morning, around 1030 we were crossing Atkins on the Goose heading out of town, and a rider went down - the pathway was pretty much pure ice! Once you're on dirt, it usually pretty good, but be wary when it's below freezing and wet tarmac.
I've been busy with the Festive 500, nearly 400km ridden in the last 5 days, phew! Shouldn't be a problem knocking off the last bit next week. Great seeing some of you taking it on as well!
Quick reminder our Week 3 segments are running two weeks, so you've still got until Jan 4th to ride them, if you haven't already (I see about a dozen have so far!)
CX action has been pretty fantastic the last week, Rafaelle Carrier has had some fantastic finishes, including 10th at Zolder a few days ago, and 13th at Dendermonde today - her highest finish. Doubly impressive, if you don't mind the reminder, is that she's only 18 (races as 19 with how the UCI license works), and I believe is sitting 3rd overall in the U23 category. Some future hope for Canada in CX!!
On a side note I really enjoy the World's Strongest Man competition series that airs this time of the year, and watched Canadian Mitch Hooper win his semi today - if anyone else watches, he's gotten a lot bigger..! Good chance he may regain the title from a few years ago. Fun watching big men move big things around. 😂
That's it for now - if you're doing the Festive 500, keep it up! Hope everyone else enjoys the segments this week, and if you're a Tripleshot member, keep an eye on the Vit D ride this Thursday, I may propose a route, and include the segments - maybe make it a bigger ride with the holiday. 😉
Safe and speedy riding all! 🚲
