Hello Segment Riders!

Hey everyone, just a quick check-in this week, as Week #8 is running over two weeks!

Six riders have braved the final two segments, and Emma and Louis set the bar high on Dean, and Travis F is currently leading in Haro Park - will these stand for another week?

I'm excited to highlight that the Royal Bay Crit on Saturday was a hit! We had 37 riders out, and they loved the course. Hurray for a new circuit in the VCL! Results and a quick report have been posted, and photo galleries are being added as I receive them:

Inspired by this, and with no current organizer, I'm pushing to hold the BC Crit Champs there on the 18th, pencil in the date! Juniors, Masters, Elites, and an 'Open' race, I'm aiming to have something for everyone!

And I hope everyone's been tuning into the Olympics racing - the Road Races were this weekend, and WOW, a great show on both accounts. I won't spoil it, but worth watching the final hour of each as a minimum, and the women's race really pops off with about 50km to go. The CBC site has archives of all the events, tho the commentary is pretty awful.

Tomorrow riders take to the track, and we've got two Island riders with Sarah Van Dam and Erin Attwell racing, looking forward to cheering them on! Events run until Sunday I believe, so lots to tune into! (If you haven't watched track racing, give it a try - the timed events can be a bit dull, but all the other races are pretty exciting.)

And finally for those who are interested in cyclocross, or looking to gain more skills for gravel riding:

My annual Cyclocross Skills School begins in a few weeks, and whether you're getting into the sport, or want to tune up, it's a fun way to start the season with my long-running clinic series! More details and sign-up here:

Have a great week, good luck to everyone else with their segment efforts, and as always, safe and speedy riding all! 🚲
