About Your Hosts

Dave and Holly have a ton of experience to share, learn more about them below.

Dave Shishkoff, About The Ride founder

Thanks Katja for the photo!

If you’ve been in the Victoria cycling scene for a while, you’ve probably already seen Dave out riding or racing!

Dave started riding off-road in the mid-90’s, spent a couple years as a bike courier, then got into racing on the track in 2003, road shortly after, and cyclocross in 2006. In this time he’s also lead countless clinics, from learn-to-ride clinics for many years on the track, to the Cyclocross Skills School clinic series. Be sure to ask Dave about the year he became the VCL A Neild Road Hill Climb Champ!

While not a particularly huge fan of climbing, and infinitely more likely to KOM on a downhill, Dave has lots of tips to share surviving climbs and getting the most out of your efforts.

Holly Henry, Pro Racer & Coach

You’ve probably seen Holly’s name atop many local QOM/KOM leaderboards, and practically lives at Willis Point.

Holly is a professional cyclist for Instafund Pro Cycling Team and has been competing as a cyclist for five years. She was an elite triathlete prior to switching to full time cycling. She is from Victoria, BC, Canada and has her Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology with a focus in neurobiology from the University of Victoria. Holly has coaching experience in triathlon and with Tripleshot Youth Cycling. She has been working with the youth and junior riders in road, cyclocross, and mountain bike disciplines. Holly is currently PMBIA level 1 certified, and NCCP-trained in Performance Cycling, Competition Development, soon to be fully certified.
