Road Racing

Victoria’s road scene is features the VCL (Victoria Cycling League), traditionally with several dozen races from April thru July. Below is their draft schedule for 2025, keep an eye on their site for any last-minute updates we may miss here.

Also in July we’ll should expect to see the Victoria Cycling Festival, and in 2025 will predominately feature the Masters National Championships, but will feature non-Masters racing options as well. The three day event last year featured a TT in North Saanich, a hilly road race in Metchosin, and a crit around the Legislature!

Royal Bay Crit Series

A new crit series, featuring fresh tarmac in Royal Bay! We ran a race in 2024 which everyone loved, and will be back for 2025!

Below are our draft dates, and will be holding a couple ‘Learn To’ practice crit sessions, especially great for those who want to learn to race crits, or work on their cornering and other crit skills!

Sat, Jun 14th – Clinic/Learn To session (in conjunction with Tripleshot)

On the mainland, 2025 events we have:

• The Spring Openers series starting March 2nd-30th by Local Ride with three in the series, if you’re itching for racing and willing to travel!
• The Spring Racing League (or Legaue?🤣) organized by the Thrashers is a 6 week series, Mar 15th – May 24th, looks exciting! New courses for 2025, details here.
• Also of note, in 2023 the Delta road race is July 9th (website wasn’t working), July 10th is the 2024 Gastown Grand Prix, and hopefully we’ll have more events for BC Superweek!

2025 BC Provincial Championships

The BC Road Champs are back on the island for 2025! Dates should be set, but no links so far.

Time Trials

The Sidney Velo TT series has been a Tuesday regular for decades, thank you to the Sidney Velo club for hosting this event so long! Here you can enjoy the past glory of results on their site.

Beginning in 2023 Jon Watkin is organizing the series through Panache Sports, there are several Tuesday dates (see the VCL schedule above!) Registration and details in the link. Note: new location/course! (Will post the Strava segment when it’s created!)

Track Racing

The local velodrome, built for the 1994 Victoria Commonwealth Games, is a 333m outdoor track with 29 degree banking – it makes for fun, fast and safe racing! It’s at the Juan de Fuca Rec Centre, and typically operates from April thru September, with weekly training sessions, a few larger events like Trackfest and Provincial Champs, and possibly weekly racing. Check out the GVVA for more details. (PS – let me know if you’ve seen my Argon 18 race bike which went missing around 2021!!)
