DETAILS FOR THE 2025 SAVE-A-TURKEY TROT – THE 10TH EDITION!

Victoria: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11TH, 2025

NEW FOR 2025! Calgary: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th

Join us for a fun 5k run/trot/stroll to promote a peaceful, animal-friendly Thanksgiving and fundraiser with all funds going to A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary near Duncan, BC! We raised nearly $1200 in 2023 (see blog post here), and hope to raise even more this year! Also check out our co-host The Victoria Vegan for local vegan resources, including a comprehensive Vegan Venue Guide to Victoria and the Island!

* Victoria’s longest running vegan event! This is our 10th edition, and was first held in 2010, and first edition in Calgary!

VICTORIA EVENT (11am, Saturday, October 11th)

Will be held at beautiful Clover Point, utilizing the pathways along the water there, walk, run or trot, meet some locals, and enjoy an hour by the sea-side!

CALGARY EVENT (11am, Saturday, October 11th)

Our new Calgary Trot will be held in the Confluence area, near St. Patrick’s Island and doing an out and back to the Peace Bridge. Come out and walk, trot or run and meet some of your community by the river!

Important note: to be entered in the draw, participants must be signed up online by Friday at 8pm. If multiple people, please sign up each individual. Any who show up the day-of will be omitted from the draw prizes unfortunately.

Walkers, trotters and runners from all over are welcome! Do a 5k walk or run wherever you are!

Please  sign-up (above), so we know you’re participating, and an email with more details will be sent out! You can do your activity wherever you are, and included will be instructions to send proof of your activity (Strava, MapMyRun, Garmin Connect, etc) before the end of Saturday, October 11th to be entered to win some of the online prizes as well!

Event History

This is our 10th Annual Save-A-Turkey Trot, which have been happening (when possible) in Victoria since 2010! Here’s a blog post on the previous edition in 2018 and the 2022 report can be found here. Started by OrganicAthlete in California, the Victoria chapter of OrganicAthlete organized the previous five editions. Unfortunately OrganicAthlete has folded as an organization, after over a decade of promoting veganism through sport, a few of us are working to start up a similar initiative through VeganStart, see below!
